In this century, social and technological changes have been affecting every profession. During the last two decades, rapid technological development has affected library services as well. Specifically for the last five years, Web 2.0 technologies have significant impact on the higher education sector as well as on the libraries of all over the world.

Web 2.0 is a second-generation website that deals with the ability of people being able to exchange information online. It refers to web development and web design that facilitates interactive information sharing, interoperability, user-centred design and collaboration on WWW. Web 2.0 based technologies have provided more opportunities and opened up new ways of communicating and collaborating.
